Its evolutionary, not revolutionary - The Supercross ENVY RS7
10 years ago we created the first BMX Superframe, the Supercross S7. It was developed to be the Ultimate BMX Race frame, and it proved to be just that. Ultra-light, incredibly responsive, super strong, and pretty expensive. But it displayed that you can build a sub 3lb Aluminum race frame that will last for multiple seasons. This Superframe laid the framework for our ENVY line of race frames. 10 years later, we introduce you to the latest addition to the Envy line, the Envy RS7!
The Supercross ENVY RS7 utilizes our special blend of 7005 ULR Ultra Light triple-butted custom-shaped tubing that is a direct result of working with Easton® Tubesets for over a decade. Why 7005 Aluminum, you ask? 7005 has higher strength and yield than 6061 when properly aged and heat treated. Kind of a Superhero of Aluminum. Sound too good to be true? We thought so too, but after a decade of real-world testing, we can tell you that this frame is the real deal. Ultra stiff, yet incredibly light.
Now to you Supercross fans, you will know that the 7005 ULR tubing has been used on all our ENVY Aluminum race frames for the last 10 years, so what makes the RS7 new?
The RS7 is the next evolution of the original ENVY frame. So it shares many of the previous improvements while bringing a few of its own to the party.
Here’s a running list of the improvements made to the Envy line over the years, making the RS7 the best Aluminum Supercross frame to date!
Wider flared Seat masts for better BB support and power transfer resulting in faster launching. All seat masts from the Micro to the Pro XXXL are of a new forming tool. Each size is optimized for rider weight and strength to maximize gate start launch.
Refined butting profiles to maximize strength and stiffness while minimizing weight. Every Supercross ENVY RS7 gets new triple-butted 7005 ULR tube sets that are our own custom molds and designed specifically for BMX Racing. This allows the frame to be stiffer, stronger, and lighter across various areas of the frame.
Refined head tube shaping. This may seem like we are being overly critical, but we listened, and during travel, a few people stated they had problems with the airlines denting the head tubes on their ENVY's. We developed a new head tube that more closely mimics the shape of the ENVY BLK head tube and has thicker bearing race seats and walls. It may look like a larger, heavier head tube, but it’s a heck of a lot stronger and lighter than other head tubes. The RS7 provides the stiffest front end across our previous aluminum models.
The ENVY RS7 also received updated dropouts. They’re still 3D CNC'd with backside releavement to reduce weight. the dropouts are now cold-forged to increase their strength and durability. While we were spending the money on the new cold forging die, we also changed the shape slightly to allow your chain tensioner to work easier by maximizing the contact patch on the end of the dropout for ease of use.
New Cold Forged Bottom Bracket Shells with cold rolled threads. We have always machined our BB threads after the final heat-treating process to ensure the truest and longest-lasting threads. But now we are using a new cold-forged BB shell with a tighter grain density to better handle the extra power you are putting out. The new threads are rolled rather than cut to increase the life of your frame and ensure the threads have a longer life.
Are you getting the idea yet? We take the Supercross frames you love and continue to refine them for an even better ride and longer-lasting frame over every generation!
This may be the largest of the changes. On Pro size and larger frames, we have always had the BB lug, where the chain stays are welded into the BB lug, and the Lug welded to the BB shell. By doing this, we maximized the weld area vs. having two tubes connect to the BB. Now on the ENVY RS7, we have taken that concept over the edge having the chainstays meet the BB shell at the widest point possible, leaving us with completely boxed-in chainstays with 7005 sheet aluminum. The BB area is now a larger box than what we accomplished with the old lug style and increases your launch out of the gate, where it is now nearing the performance of the carbon fiber ENVY BLK. The RS7 is the stiffest aluminum Supercross frame to date!
Available in 18 different sizes to fit all riders and 12 stock colors (Jet Black, Gloss White, Matte Grey, Hi-Vis Yellow, Guards Red, Neon Cyan Blue, Neon Pink, Neon Orange, Matte Navy Blue, Matte Army Green, Mystic Rainbow, and Mirror Polished ) and more to come.
If one of the 12 stock colors isn't what you want, we still do custom anodize and powdercoat to make the ENVY RS7 truly yours! Give us a call and we will get you hooked up.

* Specifications will vary depending upon your choice of Fork, Tire and Rim selection. Measurements are based off of a Supercross Fork and equal size (ie. 20X1.75 front and rear) tire combination. Specifications subject to change without notice. |
All weights are measured on a UPS Calibrated Scale. Weights will vary depending upon the amount of powdercoat and the amount of filler rod used on a particular frame. Polished Frames and Anodized Frames are the lightest as there is no paint. Weights and Specifications are subject to change without notice.
Please note: Pro Sized and Larger Frames have the LUG behind the BB shell for the increased Stiffness. Smaller Frames, Expert XXL and down, have a tube brace, but the Chain Stays are welded directly to the BB shell without the boxing. ow we get it right. The advances in materials and processes that have cemented Supercross’s reputation as a technology leader would not have been possible without a rigorous and costly research and development program. Beginning in our in-house laboratories, we use a range of specially fabricated fixtures and robots to test everything we make and the best products offered by our competitors. With the knowledge that comes to life in that process, we develop and test new concepts, the most promising of which we put back in or test lab, out on the road or trail and in the wind tunnel. If results are encouraging and we think we’re on the right track, we put beta versions of our product under the world’s best racers, including two time Olympic Gold Medalist Maris Strombergs. The marketing benefits of having someone like Strombergs on our equipment is obvious to almost anyone, but the information we receive from a rider that experienced and exacting is the only way to know if we’ve gotten it right.
